Grateful for the Dream

By LaCarley Quin and Janzell Williams

We are proud to share our first-ever coauthored student blog! LaCarley Quin and Janzell Williams chose to collaborate, combine their voices, and write together—showing us how writing can be even stronger when done in community.

We are grateful for Martin Luther King because he fought for our freedom and civil rights. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't be as free as we are today. He preached,``I Have a Dream’’, so that black and white people can have equality in schools, stores, and public transportation. Everyone respects Dr. King for what he did for the world and what he did for civil rights. I am happy he stood up for our rights as black people. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have any freedom in the world to move by. He wasn't just a person, he was an inspiring person black leader of all civil rights. MLK was a Champion of racial equality , economic justice, and voting rights.
