Nolan Xavier Wells was an 18 year old college student. He was a football player who played as a wide receiver. Nolan played for southwest Mississippi Community College. The Fourth of July weekend, he went to Horn Island with a group of friends. Nolan's friends returned home, but he didn’t. So, his family quickly reported him missing. Then, two days later, they found him on the island. He was a kind, respectful person that made people feel welcomed, valued, protected and nurtured. This makes me sad because we had the same personality. Christine Wonsley, his mom, said,
"Nolan had such a gentle, calming spirit about him."
Mississippi and the nation learned about his story, and over 100 people attended his funeral.
